A considered
approach to
healing

Japanese Acupuncture Gold Coast offers a calm, unhurried approach to health and wellbeing, rooted in the traditions of Japanese acupuncture, with a focus on gentle techniques and individualized care.

Practising from Haynes Acupuncture in Bundall on the Gold Coast, each session begins with a thorough consultation to understand your individual needs — because no two people, and no two treatments, are the same.

Japanese acupuncture uses finer needles and a lighter touch than many other styles, making it particularly well-suited to those new to acupuncture or with sensitivity to needling.

Registered Acupuncturist · AHPRA · Gold Coast

I’ve been practising acupuncture for over ten years and hold a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Acupuncture, graduating with Distinction. My passion for this profound medicine continues to grow through ongoing study and exploration.

I’m dedicated to helping people feel their best—physically, mentally, and emotionally—through gentle, personalised care that supports balance and wellbeing. My earlier work in social work and disability care taught me the value of empathy and human connection, which deeply informs my practice.

My own journey with acupuncture began more than 35 years ago, when I experienced its remarkable benefits for chronic health issues. Outside the clinic, I love bushwalking, reading, playing chess, and photographing the beautiful birdlife around the Gold Coast.

Common questions

Does acupuncture hurt?

Japanese acupuncture uses very fine needles with a light touch — most people feel little to nothing on insertion. Some describe a mild warmth or gentle tingling at the needle site.

How many treatments will I need?

This depends on your condition and goals. Acute issues may respond in 3–5 sessions; chronic conditions often benefit from a longer course. We discuss this at your initial consultation.

Can I claim on private health insurance?

Yes — most major funds cover acupuncture including Medibank, BUPA, NIB, AHM, and HCF. Rebates are processed on the spot via HICAPS.

What should I do before my appointment?

Have a light meal 1–2 hours beforehand, wear loose clothing if possible, and avoid alcohol on the day. Arrive a few minutes early for your first visit.

Where are you located?

Japanese Acupuncture Gold Coast is at Haynes Acupuncture, Shop 3A, 47 Ashmore Road, Bundall QLD 4217. Easy parking is available on site.

Is Japanese acupuncture different?

Yes — Japanese styles use finer needles, lighter stimulation, and more detailed palpation than Chinese styles, resulting in a very gentle yet highly effective treatment.
